There are times when small-to-medium manufacturers could benefit from additional assistance in sales and marketing management, including market research. Sales managers are often tied up with the daily duties of running a national sales force and some smaller companies may not have a specific sales manager, with those duties falling onto the company owner.

A more effective solution than postponing or ignoring important projects may be to choose additional help on a freelance / project basis – or to perhaps outsource the project.  Chris Fonville brings clients over twenty five years’ experience in the commercial interiors industry.  Beyond co-founding CONTRAK and being an expert on the industry’s independent reps, Chris’ relevant experiences include introducing the first efforts to digitize the interiors library to being the senior executive of US operations for a European seating manufacturer.   Chris’ business education includes a degree in economics from University of North Carolina –Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Advanced Management Program, and a master’s degree from North Carolina State University that included graduate work in strategic marketing, consumer behavior and market research.

Special Project examples include:

Ø  Designed and implemented  a national market research survey for BIFMA

Ø  Conducted a national targeted direct mail campaign for OPRA

Ø  On behalf of the Contract Interiors Marketing Assoc. (CIMA), managed exhibitor sales for a regional industry trade show

Ø  Designed and implemented in-depth personal interviews with a client’s national rep force

Ø  At the request of Contract Magazine, wrote an article regarding the importance of independent reps (see Press).
