CONTRAK, LLC was established in early 1995 as a resource to assist contract furniture executives identify professional independent sales reps.  CONTRAK’s co-founder and principal, Chris Fonville, had experienced the frustrations of finding representation during his years as Executive Vice President and General Manager of a noted seating manufacturer whereby “good old boy” networking or trade ads often did not provide the desired results. 

Chris also received calls from reps expressing their interest or need for a particular type of product.  It became clear that in general, the manufacturing community and the community of independent sales reps did not have an effective or efficient way to express their industry presence or needs to one another.

After 10,000+ outbound qualifying research calls, CONTRAK launched the industry’s only database comprised of over 1,000 multi-line independent rep firms that specialize in office and institutional furniture.  Combining the initial interview questionnaires from multiple manufacturers, CONTRAK created their unique “RepProfile” that answers many of the questions that a sales executive must know in their pursuit of the best potential rep.  CONTRAK continues to research the market, identifying new reps and bringing them into the program, as well as connecting with each existing firm twice a year to verify their most pertinent information.

By utilizing this proprietary information, sales managers can save many hours while being introduced to the broad community of reps in a particular sales territory.  An additional benefit is that a greater number of reps have an increased chance of learning about exciting opportunities
